Comprehensive Dust Control Measures for Metal Polishing Workshops

Metal polishing workshops generate a large amount of fine metal dust (e.g., stainless steel powder, aluminum powder), which is harmful to human health and may cause explosion hazards. 

Comprehensive control measures combining local collection and overall purification are required:

1. Local dust collection at the source: 

Install a local dust collection hood above each polishing machine station (close to the dust generation point) to capture dust at the source. The hood should be designed according to the polishing machine model to ensure a capture efficiency of ≥95%.

2. Select appropriate dust collectors:

 Use pulse bag filters with high dust removal efficiency (≥99.9%) and wear-resistant filter bags (e.g., FMS, PPS). For flammable metal dust (e.g., aluminum powder), select explosion-proof dust collectors.

3. Workshop sealing: 

Install dust-proof doors and windows to reduce external dust intrusion and internal dust diffusion. The workshop floor should be smooth and easy to clean to avoid secondary dust.

4. Personal protection:

 Require operators to wear dust masks (N95 or above), protective clothing, and gloves during work; conduct regular occupational health checks to protect operator health.

5. Regular cleaning: 

Use an industrial-grade vacuum cleaner to clean the workshop floor, equipment surface, and corners every day to avoid dust accumulation. Prohibit dry sweeping (to avoid secondary dust).

6. Process optimization: If conditions permit, adopt wet polishing (spray a small amount of water mist during polishing) to reduce dust generation. If dry polishing is used, install a mist spray device near the polishing station to suppress dust.
