Design of Filter Cartridges for Cartridge Dust Collectors

The volume of the finished filter cartridge has a significant impact on the overall volume of the filter assembly. 

The main unit of the filter assembly often imposes the following requirements on the filter:

① Overall height of the dust collector and inlet/outlet distance (width);

② Overall height and diameter of the lower body of the filter cartridge;

③ Total mass of the filter cartridge;

④ Connection method and size of the outlet;

⑤ Performance requirements related to filtration characteristics, such as filtration accuracy.

The following factors should be considered when designing the filter cartridge according to the assembly requirements:

① The outer diameter of the filter cartridge should ideally be 10mm smaller than the inner diameter. 

This is because the tall and narrow space allows pollutant particles to settle slowly on the outer layer of the cartridge, thus ensuring even contamination from top to bottom.

② Determining the diameter of the inner skeleton: The size of the oil passage holes should not affect the filtration volume, while also considering the impact of the hole size on the skeleton's strength.

③ The overall strength of the inner skeleton is extremely important. First, the pressure difference the filter cartridge must withstand must be supported by the skeleton; 

therefore, the smaller the diameter, the higher the strength.

④ The optimal height for the corrugated teeth should be between 10 and 50 mm.

⑤ Sufficient margin should be allowed for pressure differential. 

After calculating the required filtration area, this area should be doubled. 

This is because the unpredictability of dust contaminants during actual operation must be fully considered.

Filter Cartridge Shape Design: The design and manufacturing methods for paper-type filter cartridges requiring pleats are largely similar. 

Filter cartridge design should be based on actual usage requirements, and requirements such as strength, pressure drop, and dirt holding capacity should not be based solely on parameters derived from calculation formulas. 

Empirical values obtained through experiments should be used. Calculations and derivations can only serve as a reference; this is a unique characteristic of filter cartridges compared to other machine parts.

Corrugated tooth requirements: including the dimensions of each part of the corrugations, the number of corrugations, and the corrugated unfolded area.
