Comparison of Filter Cartridges and Filter Bags

Filter cartridges and filter bags were not invented at the same time. 

Filter bags, as high-efficiency dust collection elements, have a long history of application. 

After years of accumulation, they have developed into a very mature technology, widely used in various fields. 

Filter cartridges, on the other hand, are a new technology developed in the last thirty years. 

Their advantages in air intake filtration have been fully demonstrated. 

In the dust collection field, their development has been very rapid. 

With continuous updates to filter media, they are increasingly demonstrating superior performance in various fields, 

especially in some normal temperature and low-concentration conditions.

The advantages of filter cartridges compared to filter bags are:

1. Pleated filter cartridges increase filtration area and occupy less space;

2. Increased air volume handling capacity;

3. Reduced filtration velocity;

4. Easy to clean, reducing pressure drop;

5. Saves compressed air;

6. Convenient installation and maintenance;

7. High dust collection efficiency;

8. Extended filter cartridge life;

9. Venturi tubes eliminate the need for cages.

10. Low overall cost

However, filter cartridges are not a panacea in the dust collection industry and cannot completely replace filter bags in some operating conditions.

1. High-temperature environments: Filter cartridges are generally not recommended for operating conditions above 120℃ due to their high cost.

2. High-concentration environments: If the dust concentration is very high, we also do not recommend using filter cartridges.

The choice between filter cartridges and filter bags in dust collectors cannot be based on a simplistic view of which is better or worse. 

We need to make a reasonable choice based on the actual operating conditions.
