Replacement and Precautions of Air Compressor Filter Elements?
The three key filters of an air compressor include the air filter, oil filter and oil-air separator, each with a slightly different replacement method, which we will explain separately below.
1. Replacement of Air Filter
Dust in the air inhaled by a screw air compressor is trapped in the air filter. To avoid premature wear of the screw compressor and blockage of the fine filter element in the oil-air separator,
the air filter element generally needs to be cleaned or replaced after 500 hours of operation; the replacement interval should be shortened in dusty areas.
The compressor must be shut down for filter replacement, and to minimize downtime, it is recommended to install a new or cleaned spare filter element.
1)Tap the two end faces of the filter element alternately against a flat surface to remove most heavy and dry dust.
2) Blow with dry compressed air of less than 0.28Mpa in the opposite direction of air intake, keep the nozzle at least 25mm away from the folded paper, and blow up and down along its height.
3) Inspect the filter element and discard it if thinning, pinholes or damage are found.
2. Replacement of Oil Filter
1) Unscrew and discard the oil filter.
2) Thoroughly clean the filter housing and unclog the pressure difference through-holes at the front and rear.
3) Check the performance of the pressure difference transmitter.
4) Apply oil to the new filter element (coat a thin layer of oil on the filter's sealing ring).
5) When installing the filter element, screw it until it contacts the gasket, then tighten it an additional 1/3 turn by hand.
6) Check for leaks after starting the machine.
Note: The filter element can only be replaced when the compressor is stopped and pressure is relieved. In addition, handle hot oil with caution to prevent scalding and avoid oil spillage.
3. Replacement of Oil-Air Separator Filter Element
1) Disconnect all connecting hoses and copper pipes on the minimum pressure valve.
2) Remove the oil return copper pipe.
3) Take off the cover plate.
4) Pull out the filter element.
5) Clean the cylinder body.
6) Install the new filter element and reassemble all parts in the reverse order of disassembly.
Note: Before installation, check that rubber and asbestos gaskets have anti-static properties (conductive pins must be installed). During installation,
prevent contaminants from falling into the oil tank. When installing the oil return pipe, ensure it is inserted to the bottom of the filter element.
